I did not have any apprehension about watching this film. Quaid did a superb job of capturing the right mood. Highly recommended, and proof that Quaid is probably an underrated actor.
Follow Ups:
I agree, from the clips I saw, that the acting looked engaging and the mood vivid. It was this lucidity and unaffected presentation of war that had the greatest impact on me.Were you not a little shocked by the brutality and the skill with which it was conveyed??
Big J.
It has been some years since I have seen the film, so my memory may have obscured some details. Because I generally watch four to six movies per week, together with a 15 month old, music, softball, etc., I do not really have time to rewatch movies. But as I recall, the movie was extremely brutal, but not necessarily a glorification such as we see in horror movies. I felt that the way the brutality was handled in such a way that it was understandable for the setting, and not there to shock. I was not shocked, maybe because I have seen too many movies where violence was the end, not the means.
