Nothing, just rapid talking.
Follow Ups:
"Nothing, just rapid talking."Yes, the dialog is fast, but that's a part of it's charm. Perhaps you and Rico's grasp of English is not fine enough to catch the subtlties and nuance of the dialog and script.
I have a degree in the language and a collection of 1600 films so let me be permitted to dislike a particular film if I care to. And I have given this film a number of tries.
I'm sorry, patrickU, but IMHO that "rapid talking" contains some of the finest dialogue to ever grace a Hollywood comedy. Grant and Russell are terrific, and Randolf Scott is, well, he's not the old man Cary first congratulates for marrying Russell in the film, although he acts that old!"The last man to call me that was Archibald Leach, right before he slit his throat!"
You're thinking of "My Favorite Wife (A missing & presumed dead Irene Dunne returns to Cary Grant after having been shipwrecked on a desert island with the handsome Scott. Ralph Bellamy plays Russell's neglected fiancee in "HGF."
Oops! Thanks for the correction! You're right...it IS Randolph diving off the high dive in front of a horrified Cary Grant in "My Favorite Wife" and Ralph Bellamy marrying Russell in "His Girl Friday."
Oh well...that's why I always have my papers vetted before my teachers see them!
