How in the world have you seen a film like BJM before. What films are you comparing to it??BJM was the most unique film of last year IMHO. Whether you liked it or not, you can't accuse it of being unoriginal.
BTW, I thought it was excellent.

Tranny,I agree with you that it has a very original idea. BJM is a very
good movie, may I add. But it could be made better; dunno how.
I think it fails into the trap as many movies today of trying to
to surprise the audience, especially at the end, by twisting the
plot a little too forceful that it deviates from what the movie
is really about. I have yet to see any movie lately as good,
beautiful, moving, coherent, as Life Is Beautiful. That being said, BJM is still a very good movie.
The multiple ideas to think about as that little girl was swimming in the pool. The great music playing during that shot and the entry of the credits was genious. It's nice when a film actually has you interested during the credits and also keeps your eyes on the screen during them.
BJM was good, maybe not the best film of last year IMHO though.
My favs from 1999 were Cider House Rules and The Sixth Sense.
