I will drag out the old VHS tapes of the original version, thank ya very much. Why does Lucas insist on screwing around with it? I know it's his vision, but some of us were satisfied with it the first time around. At least give us that option.I might check out the new ones the next time I get a free rental coupon, but other than that, I'm not interested.
Follow Ups:
it's not like GL installed the designated hitter, or anything.
This is a film forum.2nd--I'm not some SW fanatic who dresses up like a stormtrooper. I just prefer the original version over the subsequent re-edits. What's wrong with that? Is it really too much to ask?
so come clean, ok?Me? I remember when I was 15 and my buddy and I took a freakin' 2 hour bus drive down to Grohman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood from the SF Valley and saw it there soon after it opened. We weren't old enough to drive and our mom's weren't drivng all the way down there, but we did end up staying for two or three showings.
Personally, I didn't even see the three reissues when they came to my theatre way back when, so I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other. But when GL states that these are the films that he WANTED to make, then that's fine by me.
I don't get my panties all in a bundle like some of you.
I have the VHS boxed set of the original versions, and that's it. Can't remember the last time I watched it. What a fanatic "fanboy" I must be.
Ever seen that clip of Triumph the Comic Dog interviewing those die-hard Star Wars fans in NYC? That is hilarious........
And you watch these on pan and scan TAPES?!
Should have made that clear ;)
