There is a silent version and two sound remakes of this Fanny Hurst tear jerker but sadly none have been released on DVD at least here in the states. Does anyone remember this one? Susan Hayward and John Gavin star in the most recent one, which moves the time up to WW II.
Follow Ups:
It turns out that the first one was released in 1932 and was not silent. The lead character is Ray Schmidt in this first adaptation. In the 1941 remake she becomes Ray Smith, probably because of growing anti-German sentiment at the time. In the 1961 Susan Hayward second remake she becomes Rae Smith. And for some reason the married character she is a slave to is Walter in the first two and Paul in the last one.
