Billy Bob Thornton steals the show here in this tale of two brothers and Thornton's friend who stumble upon over $400 thousand in cash in a crashed small plane which was ferrying drug money. Bill Pullman is the other brother and he is married to the very pregnant Brigit Fonda who after intitial reservations goes along with the plot. Naturally thnigs start to spin out of control and eventually tragedies occur, resulting in the deaths of a number of people. Although Pullman ostensibly is the star it is Thronton's not so dumb dumb brother who really shines here.

BBT, and Slingblade? C'mon...it was another in a tiring sequence of Rainman-type roles for actors looking for props.
Hell, even Sean Penn gave it a go...
If you are looking for a real POS, check out Bad Santa. While the language and content is prolly offensive to some, BBT is the real stinker in this dud.
...the script actually follows the book very closely.
Very good film. Pullman's work in such mindless films like "Twister" is seen by millions, but his work in a film like this is overlooked. Given a good script and charachter, Thornton is indeed very good. And this is probably the best work that Fonda has done.
