"La Jetee" is available on Issue 2: Dreams, of the Short Cinema Journal series, an excellent collection of short films. Currently there are seven Issues and the first two fully exercize the DVD format's capabilities, including alternative camera views.
Thanks Steve!! I just went to Amazon and found the DVD you're referring to, but I got the impression from one of the reviewers that it is dubbed into English. Is that right, or is there also a French soundtrack with English subtitles? I don't understaned French, but I can't imaging watching "La Jetee" with a different sound to it.
Yes, this one is dubbed in English (and there is no alternate audio track, boo hoo!). Checking the notes (using the Title Menu on the DVD) indicates that this is the Director's preferred cut (at 29 min. 3 sec.), featuring the complete text and best print, previously unavailable in the U.S. There is a VHS version only of "La Jetee" that I saw at Tower Video, but I believe that it was considerably shorter.Wow, just watched "Depth Solitude" on the same DVD for the first time in half a year. These short films are outstanding!
hi,
an inquiring mind would like to know, Thanks.
They're pretty widely available through Best Buy, Tower, Virgin Megastore, etc., and as Josh found, on-line from Amazon.
