I am still at lost at why they have to go through all that trouble and expense in FX when all they really need were fishing gears, dinghy and river as props. The entire movie was all about father and son bonding story.
Follow Ups:
Most films have a dual-narrative structure. There is a personal story and a worldly story, and both get resolved together, satiating the audience on a worldly and personal level. A classic example would be boy-meets-girl, war tears them apart, and as the war ends, the boy and girl reunite. The quiet american is a particulary interesting recent example ... but to say more would ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it.
