Movie version of "Snow Falling On Cedars" - reviews?

I thought the book was outstanding, but due to its limited release, the movie never made it to a nearby theater.
Has anyone seen this movie AND read the book? If so, what were your thoughts?
I've heard that it's due out on video in June. Can anyone verify this?

I thought the film was pretty well-done. Worth seeing when it comes out on video though I'm sure the atmosphere of the Northwest coast won't come through as well on the small screen.
