"What is elistic?"I don't know but if you meant "elitist" it means..."consciousness of being or belonging to an elite." Elite meaning... "the socially superior part of society"
"BTW have you seen the films I mentionned above?"No.
"If yes, so what is your opinion?"My opinion is recomendations like this are great. You do other people a service. OTOH Victor's elitist attitude is just kaka IMO.
Follow Ups:
I must assure you that you do injustice to Victorīs post. And to him.
I wish we could stay on our love to films only.
But...
"I must assure you that you do injustice to Victorīs post. And to him."Injustice to his post? No, my response was quite fair. Injustice to Victor? I don't *know* Victor. I know his posts.
"I wish we could stay on our love to films only.
But... "I do to. Why don't you say this to Victor when he makes comments like this? "Art appreciation takes education, and the only education our kids have been getting lately is the kaka that shows 'in the theater near you'." Where is the love of film in this pompous idiotic comment?
Art appreciation take education...Of course that is true! What in the world should be untrue in this words?
I could write wine tasting takes education too that would be also as true as Victorīs remark and so on...
You may have an allergy on him, but that is another matter.
As for the second about te kids, I knows a lots who are here in Europe well educated, mostly with rich parents, but there is no doubt that most of them are feed with hamburgers in the material as spiritual way.
Where is the point?
"Art appreciation take education...Of course that is true! What in the world should be untrue in this words?"Really? What education do you have that allows you to appreciate art in ways that so called noneducated cannot?
"I could write wine tasting takes education too that would be also as true as Victorīs remark and so on..."You could write that sure. But it smells of more snobbery. What "education" does one need to know if they like the taste of something in their mouth?
"You may have an allergy on him, but that is another matter."No.
"As for the second about te kids, I knows a lots who are here in Europe well educated, mostly with rich parents, but there is no doubt that most of them are feed with hamburgers in the material as spiritual way.
Where is the point?"I made my point already. Perhaps some people lack the "education" to appreciate it.
***What education do you have that allows you to appreciate art in ways that so called noneducated cannot? The one you should try. I would say you gave us perfect demonstration of how far one could get with no education.
***What education do you have that allows you to appreciate art in ways that so called noneducated cannot?
"The one you should try."Nice try at dodging the question. You really think anyone bought your bluff?
"I would say you gave us perfect demonstration of how far one could get with no education."
You tend to say a lot of stupid things. Why should today be any different?
I see, it what I already thought. Words.
Education is an ongoing process of learning. That never stop, or never should. With everyday we educate ourselves, donīt we?
It has only marginally to do with school education.
No, no snobbery! I mean if you learnt something and you pratice it, donīt you think you get better and better at it?
Yes you do. Some people are inborn genius and can go directly to the right spot. Some like me are in an never ending process of learning and comparing, even if some are easyer than other to learnt.
No education there just observation.
I do hope you got my point, even if my English is still so defficient.

No, no snobbery! I mean if you learnt something and you pratice it, donīt you think you get better and better at it?"Sure. This aptly applies to artists and art critics who analize why art is excellent or not so excellent. But *appreciation* is different. One does not need to be an expert on wine to decide whether or not they like the taste. One does not need any particular education to appreciate art. Certinaly in many circumstances a knowledge of the background of a particular movie can be very helpful.
"Yes you do. Some people are inborn genius and can go directly to the right spot."Different issue and I disagree. I think people are born with aptitude. I think genius requires more than good genes.
"Some like me are in an never ending process of learning and comparing, even if some are easyer than other to learnt.

Our children have been taught that every effort is just as great, no matter the result... it is the effort itself that counts. So people like Scott like to believe there is no good or bad... just films. No inferior... no superior... no philosophically insightful stories... no dumb actions flicks...
You need to learn the American PC language.
"Our children have been taught that every effort is just as great, no matter the result... it is the effort itself that counts."Maybe your children were taught that. I certainly wasn't and my child certainly wasn't. What kind of bizarre logic did you use to conclude that I have been taught such drivel?
"So people like Scott like to believe there is no good or bad... just films."What a load of bullshit. Don't f***ing try to speak for what I think. You are in way over your head you pompous ass.
"No inferior... no superior... no philosophically insightful stories... no dumb actions flicks..."
You are completely out of touch with reality. But please tell us what education you have aquired that makes your opinion on film any more valid than the lady that bags my groceries at Ralphs. You did say an education is required to appreciate art. I think you know jack about films and film making. Prove me wrong, share with us your elite education on film that allows you to appreciate it and not the ignorant masses.
"You need to learn the American PC language."
No, *you* need to learn to be PC until you find a way to get over yourself. Here is a news flash. Finding forgeign movies that don't make it to the Cineplex and liking them doesn't make you inteligent or insightful. It makes you a movie geek. It doesn't take a degree in art bullshit or psudo-intelectual snobbery to enjoy a good movie. You are just like the comic book guy in The Simpsons. You think your exposure to nonmainstream movies makes you smarter than the rest.
Despite your failed logic, I very much believe there is excellence and mediocrity in art. I also believe that pretentious armchair film critics like yourself who wallow in the obscure so as to feel secure enough to deficate on anything mainstream are a dime a dozen and have nothing to offer the film world. Fortunately for the rest of us such people are mostly left on the sidelines where they preach to each other.
I think there is a lack of communication here.
