In Reply to: You would have easier time understanding Scott if you were exposed to the American Outcome Based Education posted by Victor Khomenko on November 01, 2004 at 12:59:58:
"Our children have been taught that every effort is just as great, no matter the result... it is the effort itself that counts."Maybe your children were taught that. I certainly wasn't and my child certainly wasn't. What kind of bizarre logic did you use to conclude that I have been taught such drivel?
"So people like Scott like to believe there is no good or bad... just films."What a load of bullshit. Don't f***ing try to speak for what I think. You are in way over your head you pompous ass.
"No inferior... no superior... no philosophically insightful stories... no dumb actions flicks..."
You are completely out of touch with reality. But please tell us what education you have aquired that makes your opinion on film any more valid than the lady that bags my groceries at Ralphs. You did say an education is required to appreciate art. I think you know jack about films and film making. Prove me wrong, share with us your elite education on film that allows you to appreciate it and not the ignorant masses.
"You need to learn the American PC language."
No, *you* need to learn to be PC until you find a way to get over yourself. Here is a news flash. Finding forgeign movies that don't make it to the Cineplex and liking them doesn't make you inteligent or insightful. It makes you a movie geek. It doesn't take a degree in art bullshit or psudo-intelectual snobbery to enjoy a good movie. You are just like the comic book guy in The Simpsons. You think your exposure to nonmainstream movies makes you smarter than the rest.
Despite your failed logic, I very much believe there is excellence and mediocrity in art. I also believe that pretentious armchair film critics like yourself who wallow in the obscure so as to feel secure enough to deficate on anything mainstream are a dime a dozen and have nothing to offer the film world. Fortunately for the rest of us such people are mostly left on the sidelines where they preach to each other.
