I've heard some good rec's on it, so we went and rented a copy. It turned out to be one of them seventy-fifth generation pirating bullshit, so all we could see was some fuzzy outline of moving figures.
Is it really good? Should I spend my hard-earned $10 and get an official viewable copy?

Yeah, you know better since I haven't seen it yet.
From what I've read here, it's a typical Socurov,
a good thing to me. OTOH, the story... after all
Lenin movies I saw I doubt that I'm interested in
another mass murderer private life. And I like
Sokurov not enough to get it only for cinematography.
I haven't seen it in rental yet, otherwise I'd spend 15
or 20 'papers' to watch it. Well, so my current answer
to your $10 question is GO FOR IT. Then please tell
me whether it's worth watching. ;-)
