I would tend to agree on treatment of sex, but not the movie. There is definitely a maturity in the way some European directors do that, as opposed to mostly the adolescent treatment that is so common in the US, where it is turned into a cheap attention getter.

One of the best such treatment in my recent memory would be the superlative Claire Denise' Friday Night (Vendredi soir).

Another good example could be found in the Vozvrascheniye (The Return).
