This is a lesser David lean film and I have always felt that Robert Mitchum was woefully miscast as the cuckolded teacher. Sara Miles is quite sexy in this, however, and Freddie Young's cinematgograpy of the wild Irish coast is at times breathtaking. Overall, however, this is a muddled mess. Not withstanding that, the storm scene is amzing.

They had a very hard time with the filming of this scene!
I wanted to have another look at it, but you persuade me not.
I remember it the way you described it.
