I don't know many details but I was (and am) hooked. I even dragged my lady friend to see their take on "This Island earth" in the theater. I have a couple of episodes on DVD. My favorite was Gypsy, the girl vacumn cleaner. I can still sing the opening theme.
Follow Ups:
rico,MST3K was on the air about 10 years:

-is a list of every episode and the cast of "commentators"
All the episodes I saw were as reruns on SCI-FI Channel. Along with the "Simpsons", some of the funniest lines I've ever heard on the television machine came out of that series.
This series appealed to me in particular as I am a nearly violent commentator myself when a movie annoys me! I wish MST3K still existed. Coincidentally, only a couple of days days ago, I found myself yearning for a solid MST3K hacking up when watching the most pointless, frustrating movie I've seen in a decade: "Runaway Jury".
And how nice it would be to have all political press conferences and AEI panels reported in the MST3K manner! -Let's put a little colour and spontaneity back into criticism!
Cheers,
I have posted here a couple of times that because this is so oiver the top I find it very enjoyable, like I do "Air Force One".
'the most pointless, frustrating movie I've seen in a decade: "Runaway Jury".'Close but not quite...you should see "Van Helsing". I'm STILL not over it.
MST3K did rule with some of the funniest lines and commentary on TV, I will certainly agree.
