I really enjoyed Amores Perros. I would also suggest The Crime of Padre Amoro about a Catholic Priest sent to Los Reyes, Mexico to help a old friend run a church, only to find that the old friend priest uses drug money from drug lords to finance the church. The new priest also has received the attentions of an attractive, underage girl. If you are easily offended by subject matter that many Catholics consider sacrilegious, then you should avoid. Received a 2002 Oscar nomination for best foreign film.
