Yes, some scenes. I call it French nostalgy ( The bathing suit made of wool, we all had that at the time...) or short just nostalgy.
It is an erotic tale and the end is a bit frustating, but life can also be.
The best thing is the music. And the dancing. And the slow rythm. With Le Parfum d´Yvonne the nearest near missed from Leconte for a good film.
Follow Ups:
If I had to remember one thing from that film that would be the dance... probably the first one.I loved Rochefort's explanation - just close your eyes and pretend no one sees you... just let yourself be! Some people have that great ability of being themselves no matter the circumstances.
And, as I mentioned before, another mesmerizing dance scene is the Maroccan prostitutes dancing in the Beau Travail - that one I also can't forget.
Mine too! I even bought ( still have ) the disc. At the time it was quite revolutionary to add an " Arab " soundtrack in a French film with a big budget.
Who sang " Let me dance you into the night " Leonard Cohen, I think.
Beau Tavail, one I will have to look back sometimes.
Even stronger in my fading memory was " Passion in the Desert ".
Like when you got a high temperature fever, it goes round and round in your body and your head. Like a ritournelle.
Mesmerizing, you would say.

Well Simenon the man I love like very few others as a writer did wrote the novel and I have seen this film 14 years ago, and I can only remember the face of Mr. Blanc, haunting. I suppose I will have to give it another go someday.
