Hi Rico, you're pretty busy on this thread...don't you work? lol...just fool'n withca...I could go to town on films, being a movie buff from way back, but I just have to pick my threads. Most of the time we're talking about shit movies. To me, at least...I have, however, put some suggested movies on my queue list....peace, warren
Follow Ups:
I am retired. I have a love of films and have a large collection on laserdisc and aDVD of silents through contemporary movies. I enjoy posting and reading threads on this board. I watch at least one film a day and also attend the local theaters (today it's "Closer"). My other passion is jazz music and I have just volunteered to be a jazz DJ on out local public radio station.
Rico, good to know. I'm a jazzman myself. I loved Closer. Clive Ownen and Natalie Portman are quite hot together; in a scene you will not need your Cialis. (partial to Cialis. my wife is a bio tech rep for the drug) Some of the best, provocative, writing I've had the pleasure. Will be interested in your impressions. Yesterday, I listened to My Favorite Things/John the man Coltrane and a touch of Bill Evans/Waltz for Debbie. Hmmm hmmmm good....
I can't get enough of Elvin's drumming on "Summertime" and I love it when 'Trane comes back to restate the theme on "But Not For Me" and ends up playing a whole 'nother solo. And I have owned every incarnation of the two Evans Trio Vanguard albums since the early sixties. The best so far are on the 45 rpm LPs issued by Analogue Productions.
Scott Lefaro was a monster. dead at 21. three of the best trio jazz recordings I've ever heard. Motian, Evans and Lefaro. what a loss..doesn't get much better than that....sorry, we should be doing this over at the music thread. see you there....
Sacre nom de....
Pat, when you speak Franch, I go all tingly. Rico will be jealous...lol..life is good..
That is one that I have been thinking of seeing. Was going to see it the other night but went to Aviator instead. (BTW Aviator was a pleasant surprise actually - Leo was very convincing, esp during the 2nd half of the movie.)
Leo is a monster; or can be...I'm waiting for another Basketball Diaries and Whatever Happened to Gilbert Grape? Acting greatness: those two roles...
Will see "Closer" later today. And I agree that DiCaprio became more convincing as "The Aviator" unfolded (see my post below).
