saw this movie, maybe 20 years or more ago. I thought it was called The Tempest, but cannot find in the IMDB data base. Stars: Gena Rowlands, Raul Julia, Mollie Ringwald and John Cassevetes. Characters on a Greek (I believe) island, finding themselves. I remeber loving it and cannot, for the life of me, find it..thanks in advance....peace, warren

Hi Jeff,Sorry for having jumped in, without reading the whole thread first: loading AA pages has been terribly slow at times, these days...
And yes, you are on the spot, linking "The Magus" (by a strange chance, I have a copy over my desk, now...) to "The Tempest"..., and yes, it is excellent: seeing young Nicholas being turned inside out like a glove once and again by that Conchis is something..., and I find that the alternate title, "The Godgame" would have fit fine to these over 650 pages of pure wonder.
It´s interesting, how this work has never been put to film, especially when at least a couple of Fowles´s novels ("The Collector", "The French Lieutenant´s Woman") have been, and very successfully...Best,
...the post wasn't directed at you but I'm happy to have your words all the same!
True that no one has filmed this masterpiece of fiction.
I'm happy with the book.
Under The Volcanoe is another favourite. Filmed.
And A tea In The Sahara. Filmed.
Magic Mountain? I love that book but it depresses me. Film?
I haven't seen it!!!!
I should get it maybe?
Where are you in Spain?

Jeff, I didn't see the website you put down. I suppose, because it wasn't colored, it slipped by me. Thanks for your timely and dead on response. Ya don't have to wonder anymore....

...of the Antonioni's great L'Avventura with Monica Vitti... a delightful Antonioni and alltogether a wonderful film.Highly recommended if you haven't seen it.
I know it's hard when you have ADHD...lol..
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084776/I haven't seen it but I love Cassevetes & Gena Rowlands.
I'll check it out...thanks.
...I agree with the comment here.
Read 'The Magus' by John Fowles - it's awesome.
long time ago. I remember not being crazy about it, though...maybe what I'm recalling is that the movie plot was based on The Tempest? The title may be something else. This was (maybe) a Paul Mazoursky move?...spelling..I have a great visual of the movie, but cannot grab the title, nor find anthing...
