The DVD is nominally clearer, as always, but the slow pans coupled with extreme level of contrast and detail yield some scenes that are rife with artifacts. I have become aclimated to such things and most DVDs no longer give me headaches, but this one still can. That is true on any number of players for my copy.

I hope yours is better. I would upgrade players, but with HD-DVD right 'round the corner I am holding back. And there are only a few disks I find bothersome. Unfortunately, this excellent film is one of them. At least I have 2 different laserdiscs to fall back on.
