What can I say about Equilibrium -- the film's got it all: Christian Bale (his acting ranges from torpid to simply uninspired), cheezy digital fx, an uninspired rip-off plot from THX-1138, Nineteen-Eighty-Four and generic chop-socky movies; gun-fu (should be called "p.u."); a body count in the hundreds, a gratutious puppy dog scene and exactly 2 min 17 seconds of Sean Bean (must have been fulfilling an acting contract). This is one movie in which every nickel is up on the screen: all six of them. In short, it stinks, and I've watched it three times now on cable and will probably watch it again the next time it's on.
Follow Ups:
I saw it one time, and that was enough. Not a bad movie. Just not worth a second watch. I forget if I had been drinking when I watched it. But Christian Bale was very good, and I see why he will be the next Batman. Who knows, maybe he took this film to convince the studio he could be an action guy.
