This story of blooming homosexuality and paedophilia was, in a word, disgusting. Acting fair, directing terrible. Plot-seemed improvised. Brian Cox (get it?) was good. Lots of young boy erroticism.

Disgusting? Sure. So was Goodfellas. Where are we in society that apprently views Pedophilia as disgusting (which it is), not acceptable for a movie, while senseless murder and blood carnage is an acceptable subject for a movie. I personally subscribe to the adage that the value of a movie is not judged by what the movie is about, but rather how it handles what it is about.
The point of L.I.E. was not actual sex (which some seem preoccupied with), but rather the relationship between the older man and the younger boy, and how those relationships often begin rather innocently and without warning to what they actually are. Brian Cox (and your unfortunate double entrendre about his last name demonstrates juvenile humor) puts in a very good performance in what must be a very difficult role to play, and a very risky role to play. Difficult, because, while actors would seem to be able to play "regular" people relatively easily, as there are many "regular" subjects to become close and intimate with, he must learn to convince the audience that he is a sexual deviant, something that, hopefully, is not within his underlying person. Which means that he essentially created the chararchter. And he convinced me. But I digress. After all, his last name is "Cox". Ha ha, hee hee.
Certainly not a great film. But a good one.

  I don't want to see it, either. Including Good Fellas. I have not watched a rape scnene in a movie, ever.

saw it years ago. Remember liking it very much. Very disturbing, however. Don't remember the drawbacks you mentioned..
