Hi guys,
had some fun today. Chicken Run is a silly little movie reminiscent of the Muppets. It uses claymation. It is also a patchwork of wildly diverse elements. Oddly enough, i mean that as a compliment.
The basic plot is escape, with strong WW2 overtones. In an opening sequence there is a guard tower, the main character is in coop 17; you know, like Stalag 17.
There are tons of scenes, especially Spielberg scenes, practically lifted whole. There was one scene that i think was 'borrowed' but i can't remember from where. The girl slaps the guy and says 'That's for leaving'. She then says 'This is for coming back', and kisses him. Been trying to remember where i saw that. If you do remember, please tell me, it's bugging the heck out of me.
But it all works, if you liked the Muppets, and Who framed Roger Rabbit; or have kids, you vill enjoy it.
Sounds like the "bar in Afghanistan" scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark
It's the greeting Harrison Ford gets from Karen Allen when he shows up in her bar.

Had a great time watching this one today. It didn't have the climactic chase energy of Park's "The Wrong Trousers", but there's a lot of craft in setting up all the jokes. Incidentally, director/animator Nick Park has already won three Oscars, more than Lucas and Spielberg combined.
