Despite its claim of scientific accuracy this film is riddled with factual error, from sound in space to a man surviving in the frigid Martian atmosphere withour protective garments. Every so often the mother ship flies by overhead with a particularly annoying sound. After dodging balls of fire which myteriously disapear during the latter two thirds of the movie, our hero and his pet monkey meets a human slave on the run from aliens who pilot cheap knockoff versions of "War of the Worlds" spaceships. I sat through his last night because I know it has some cult following here. Never again.
Follow Ups:
I actually saw Robinson Crusoe on Mars IN THE THEATER during its initial release when I was a little kid... I thought it was way cool then and I still do now! Although I must admit that, even as a seven-year-old, I was puzzled by the meteror that melts the polar cap (I still don't get it).
I like cheesy movies once in a while, but that one is *BAD*.
