wonderful actiong and clean, firm direction. I also thought about it for days. I appreciate the serious issues raised, and the lack of pat answers. Very refreshingly un-hollywood. For that reason I'm not sure it can win the Oscar.
Follow Ups:
I saw it today and am overwhelmed. Fortunately I had no idea where the story was goiing so 2/3 of the way through I was amazed as it veered off in unexpected directions. This one will haunt me for days. It hope it wins a lot of Academy Awards. Everyone is justifiably talking about Hilary Swank but Eastwood's acting is IMHO the best he has ever done. I particularly liked the ending. The industrially bleak washed out cinematography added greatly to the overall effect.
Rico,Weeks ago when I brought up how good this film was...Clark had to push my buttons on Eastwood.
I can't wait for this on DVD.

...that I countered your observation that Clint had become a great director, by suggesting that he *had been* a great director for some time.
