  It is available on D.V.D. U.S.A. Release date was 9/30/03. The film was originally released in 2001 in Germany, and then in the U.S. in 2002. I would agree that it is a very good film.

    my LaserDisc, as stated, was 1988. The IMDB film release date was 1987. Not that the IMDB are perfect, they are not. But since I saw the film in Johannesburg in 1988, that would seem to make sense.

    The late release dates may have been correct for Germany, et al but I suspect they are actually all DVD release dates.

    I never saw the film in the US, perhaps it played "art" houses.

  is still very active. Outside of his great voice, there is his penchant for portraying great, evil South African protagonists (given the accent usually employed, Afrikaans protagonists).

  As are all of the icons of evil, the Afrikaaner is more than a bit maligned here, but never mind.

  I am happy to see that, in spite of his age (77) he still has several projects underweigh (actually the correct form of the word). I loved him in the PBS Sherlock Holmes series in The Copper Beeches and as the evil consul in the Lethal Weapon but his bits in White Mischief and the PBS series The Heat of the Sun were quite something.
