Denzel Washington is excellent as chief of a tiny police department on one of the Florida keys. He and his Miami homicide detective wife have been separated for ten months and he is having a torrid affair with anothe mnan's wife. He also has a slobby friend who helps him with all manner of things. This one takes a while to get going but it has an excellent plot and story with some twists at the end, just when you think he's doomed.
Follow Ups:
I thought Denzel phoned in the performance: it's full his grinning and mugging and other of his mannerisms.
The plot is trite, the females uninteresting---the latter is a deathblow to a film noir wannabe.
Sure, every film can't be "Body Heat," but in singling this one out for praise, you've elevated it far beyond the popcorn accompaniment it is.
Did I mention how hokey the denouement is (and how can one make Florida look so...visually blah?).
Denzel's "Blue Dress" movie was MUCH better and you can drool over Ms. Beal, to boot.
I agree - I thought this one was pretty weak. I had the feeling Denzel was sleepwalking his way through Out of Time. The movie would have been much more enjoyable with increased footage of Eva Mendez :-)
Unbelievable? Yes. Stylish? Yes. Entertaining? Yes. What more do you need?

at first I thought it was pretty silly the way he kept making outrageous decisions to avoid getting caught but the more he did it the more desperate he got and it just kind of grew on me...Made me think what I would have done if faced with all that cash laying around....
