Watched it the other night and just didn't get it. One friend said the Predators were using the Aliens to hunt the humans but I don't agree. The Predators were obviously using the Aliens for something, but what?

don't want to ruin the previous films, unless you recommend it highly.

The Predators used the Aliens as their supreme foe or prey as in big game hunting. Humans were simply Alien incubators. AVP is more like an a addendum to the Predator series. The story reveals their relation to the human race and presents the Alien as a single purpose, best evolved survivor to be used to distinguish their warriors.
Are we to assume this hunting activity goes on around the world? It couldn't have all happend under the ice, since there are essentially no humans there. Mildly entertaining, but certainly not worth a second watch.

I think the story contains an explanation, but it was a familiar “Stargate” idea of original intelligence and I was losing interest at that point. Supposedly, land exposure allowed human worker slaves to build the pyramid structure now below the ice pack. The whole purpose of the pyramid was to propogate the Aliens at an appropriate time and to contain and augment the Predator's objective to hunt and conquer.
Notice he has four fangs around his mouth? He is now a hybrid waiting for some production seed money. Imagine, the Alien with the Predator's brains. I got goose bumps already.

remember when the three were in the 'cell/cage' and the two ganged up on the third, ripping him open so that the acid blood would burn through the cage allowing the two to go free? The unfortunate one wasn't too happy that he drew the short straw, but they all knew it was what needed to be done in order for any of them to survive.

The “sprung” hybrid didn't make logical sense to me. How does genetic recombination take place with a host? I know, too analytical... I thought the ploy was a stretch, but it could make for an interesting AVP sequel.
