INSPECTOR GADGET reeked something aweful. Definitely restricted to the double-labatomy 3-Stooges club.MUPPETS from SPACE was a pleasant experience. Completely enjoyable. It was almost as good as the Muppet Christmas Carol which is the only other Muppet movie I'd recommend.
I didn't see "Muppets", but I did enjoy "Mystery Men" for its humor (Janeane Garofalo is currently my favorite comic actress and Tom Waits is getting so good at acting that it may be another six years before a Mule Variations II CD). Also, "The Sixth Sense" was surprisingly good, but the ads are somewhat misleading (it is a psychological drama, not a horror flick). The young boy is a very capable actor, unlike Bruce Willis, who really turns down the volume on his "Die Hard horsey face" act.
formerly Steve, thank's again for tipping me off with that post. I too think Garofalo is fun to watch--and I'm kinda getting a thing for her. Tom Waits is always fun to watch. Do you remember that film he was in--gee I don't remember much except it was about this guy who built guitars and he was hiding out in Canada and somebody was looking for him....you see, I can't stay up late watching tapes, I fall asleep and think I've seen the movie. With all the films you've seen, haven't you ever rented one and thought...haven't I seen this already, or is it just like one I've seen? Which is why so many of Victor's recommendations are so good--who could forget seeing those films!I was turned off by the tv adds for "6 cents" too, thinking it was just another devil posession horror flick. You just can't trust the marketing people.
My alltime favorite "kid" movie: Mary Poppins and it holds up very well.
"Color of Night" type movie which is tolerable.Just keep that "Hudson Hawk" away from me where Bruce's performance thoroughly painful as it was was still yet completely overshadowed by Sarah Burnhart's gawdy bismal portail.
