I was stunned at how good this film looked! Much better than I ever expected. I would certainly rate it above the last Star Wars.Although technically impossible in almost all regards, it was still a splendidly told story with fairly good acting by Jude Law and Paltrow considering they were playing to blue screens for 99% of the movie.
Anyone who enjoys art-deco or 40's art has to see this movie.

Follow Ups:
IMHO, just about everything in this movie fails because it goes overboard. By trying to draw attention to it's "unique" CGI effects, which weren't all that special to begin with, it becomes a pretentious muddled farce. So many things which probably looked good on paper failed in execution: the sepia toned faux-deco period appearance just comes across looking bland and ...ummm "faux", unsympathetic performances without benefit of any chemistry between the principals (i.e., they could've at least used rotary phones rather than cellular to dial in their performances!), and a lackluster story which relied waaaaay too much on CGI effects in lieu of a sustainable plot, etc.
And wasted an hour and 45 minutes of my life. Horrible movie-effects got tedious, and the acting was for the most part was phoned in.
Dull, dull, dull.

The entire fake "art deco" effects and the blurry/mirky pseudo-animation look really took away from the movie, I thought. The whole look was just annoying to me.
...for me not to even try. It looked too artifical. Was it supposed to? Who knows. I know I don't like the "effect". Think I'll pass.
Me too. I lasted an hour.
I guess that's why it didn't do well at the box office.
