As I pointed out before that scene is all over the shoulder reaction shots and is totally out of rhythm with the rest of the film.
Follow Ups:
I recently watch my DVD copy of Heat (not the remaster) and I noticed two scenes which were clearly superimposed. The first one comes about 1/3 the way into the film where Neal and Edie are on the deck of his house at night overlooking the lights of LA. The sumperimposition(?) is so obvious its difficult to concentrate on what the characters are saying. The other obvious one is about 3/4 into the movie where Neal and Edie are driving to LAX. They are in Neal's car going down the freeway at night, and the (fake) addition of the freeway in the back window of the car is very distracting. However, Heat is still one of my favourite movies. Too bad Ashly Judd didn't stay with that blond look - she's pretty easy on the eyes in this one!
