I did not see the film only some previewas I am allergic to Tom, but tell me why the " killer " has to tell to the taxi driver his job?
Or did I missed something?
Follow Ups:
I suggest you only pay attention to explinations that come from people who have seen the movie. Much higher likelyhood that the explination will actually reflect the content of the movie.
...and see how far it gets you.
Saw the movie. His character has to confide in the taxi driver 'cause the taxi driver saw him murder someone. It's part of the hit man's personality, and is explained well in the movie. It's really a pretty good movie, Cruise's performance is quirky and good, and Foxx is excellent.
Well should he have not killed the taxy driver then?
Well any way thank you.
He needed the taxi driver because the driver knew his way around L.A. and the fastest routes. Later on he does try to kill Foxx but it is unknown as to whether that was his plan all along.
It was alluded to, earlier in the flick, that a cabbie had been murdered in Oakland. I forget the dialogue, but one came away from that discussion knowing that it was a similar setup and Cruise was the one who had done Oakland as well. It definitely added to the suspense knowing that he was gonna use Foxx up and then off him.Dammn all this discussion is gonna force me to buy this. Helluva movie IMHO
Usially the murderer talks at the end - but of course they all MUST talk.I presume this was Mann's attempt at getting away from the stereotype? I am not even smiling here.
Bad films always need the talker, good ones manage without it.
Speaking in general terms, of course. I did not see this one, nor intend to see it, as Cruise's acting is as attractive as the cow vomit. One of the worst actors of the last decades, and quite prolific to boot! Hand me that bottle of laxative!
I think you would be surprised at how good and convincing Cruise is in this role.
I very well might be surprised, but not on my money. If one day it hits the free channels then we'll see.
You have an try of an explanation at last. I already tought it was even dumber.
But how realistic can be this? A killer telling....
It made very good sense. And Foxx's reaction upon learning, was wholly convincing and I'm convinced that was THE scene in sealing his Academy Award Nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Really, this is quite an unexpectedly excellent movie. Of course, your knowing the whole movie ( or most of it ) at this point will take some of the suspense away. We went into it knowing nothing.
