Has anyone else reading this board seen this? It opened in Dallas/Ft Worth this Friday.I think this movie was made by Germans, and is a brilliant example of excellent foreign cinema.
It chronicles the last 10 days before the defeat of Germany from the perspective of Hitler and his commanders in the Berlin bunker. Beautiful cinematography, well drawn and distinct characters--you feel the despair & hopelessness as the Russians close in.
Bruno Ganz is, in the words of a reviewer, "an unnervingly believable Hitler. It's a courageous performance of cunning, deceptive restriant and shattering volatility."
As an aside, I only read small portions of movie reviews before seeing films, just enough to try to determine if I would like to see the movie. The damn reviewers often reveal too much plot (the same also goes for previews), ruining both the surprise and joy of discovery. Do others feel this way?
