Bart the Bear, the only bear to be featured in two movies with Anthony Hopkins, befriends an orpahned beat cub in nineteenth century British Columbia. They encounter various adeventures, including skirmishes with a couple of hunters. Unbelievably beautiful cinematography enhances this magical tale and even the knowledge that the bears are trained and domesticated doesn't prevent a sense of wonder at how they "act". Good sound as well. It was a favorite of mine on laserdisc and I scoffed up the DVD upon its release. Highly recomended for all ages and a keeper.

when the big bear has the one hunter cornered and could do pretty much whatever he wanted to(with him), and then what the bear ends up doing- very powerful scene.i can't wait until my 2 boys are a little older so i can watch this with them.
I saw this in theatric release back in college. I remember how beautifully it was filmed. I noticed that my local PL has the DVD and it's on my list. I would love to see it again. Good call!
