  I thought of Bruno Ganz interpretation of AH as utterly grotesque. After reading Ebert review, I am aghashed that he found it wonderful.

    My suspect is that Bruno Ganz chose his way of acting in order to enhance, through its apparent dullness, this banality factor, as a much needed counterpoint to other films depicting AH and his bunch as people over the top as masters of evil.

    Anyhow, I´ll see it asap, and will come back with some comments.

      I think that is what happen modtly to you, Bernardo. You project yourself too positively on the screen. Me certainly too negativly, he-he...
      The whole ensemble, the pieces of the puzzle that is what one should aimed for.
      And yet this banality is the most horrible, entwisted with the routine, of what we can bring up as living being.
      BG made a very bad show. Just a caricature with human touch. He is wrong on the two accounts.
      As for the figure of Goebels....The most laughable stupidity I ever saw.

      No! It was just the German name of the film and you must not have been aware of it.
      One point to think twice would be " your Hitler " spoke English is it not?
      So BG would have been doubled...For the better or the worse.
      And on the German DVD the lighting is very bad having a layer of grey, I wonder how it did fare on the real movie in cinema.

        I avoid dubbed dialogue at all costs. The actor's inflections and nuances are totally lost with voice over dubbing. Sacre bleu!!
