It has less relevance and resonance in the post-Cold War era. Plus, what was viewed as dark, cutting satire then seems tame next to a "South Park" episode. It's one of those movies that people are cajoled into remembering as great (its Kubrick, so you HAVE to love it!) - until they watch it again and realize it's been overhyped - like the hugely overrated "Citizen Kane".

Peter Sellers is better in "Being There" or any of the Pink Panther movies. (On a side note, Hollywood, in its infinite wisdom, is producing a remake of The Pink Panther with Steve Martin playing Inspector Clouseau.)
