My wink/grin was for those fans of the books who'll be outraged if the film trashes Douglas Adam's witty saga in favor of some trite Hollywood treatment that fails to respect the original; I agree with them, and I would assume you, as well. I was looking forward to the movie, but if the poetic beauty of Adam's work is completely lost I'll be very disappointed. :o(BTW, notice that the review mysteriously disappeared. Did someone involved with the film's production threaten the site or what? I don't know if the Earth blew up to make way for an intergalactic freeway, but it sure looks like the powers that be made a decision to blow away the movie review (by Douglas Adam's biographer) to make way for the film's shills. ;^)
Follow Ups:
I say this as an Adams fan, whose first exposure to HHGTTG was via the BBC radio show, tooling around England in a rented car circa 1981.The movie may fail, but it ain't the typical Hollywood knock-off.
It may or may not be good, but it won't be your basic Hollywood dreck. I believe that Adams even created an extra character for the movie. The Muppet people made the Vogons, and there has been alot of time and energy put into this movie. The hardcore fans have been drooling for months.

I doubt he had much to do with the actual production.
