Journey to the Center of the Earth but, after a few minutes of Pat Boone and Arlene Dahl muttering inanities, I couldn't continue even for comic effect.
In contrast, Armageddon was on tv the other night and I was amused enough to watch.
Follow Ups:
I watch Journey to the center of the earth once every couple years or so (if it's on TV, I don't own it). There was something about it that I still like. Armageddon I've seen once and can't really remember much about it. It's been on TV since and I haven't been drawn to it. It's all about individual taste.
The new movie would have much better special effects for sure.
Everyone has different taste..I really like JTTCOTE...one of my favorites...Armageddon was a big Hollywood scifi epic...I didn't care for it...I think Affleck is awfull.

Armagedon is one cliche after another.
Right. So exactly why would the space ship have a 500 pound Gatlin Gun on it?Absolutley one of the worst movies, as far as even being remotely believable, ever made.
"Deep Impact" was a far better movie.
As others will attest, "Armagedon" is distinctly inferior to the wonderful "Journey to the Center of the Earth". The DVD is a wonderful restoration.
Well you have to licke this type of movie! I like them for reason of nostaligia. But I can understand Tin reaction! A good film it is not.
But...I love them all...
I couldn't sit through "Armagedon", but I've always enjoyed "Journey to the Center of the Earth", which isn't a disaster movie. Wonder remaster on the disc.:-)

...James Mason, The fine B. Herrmann score and the effects. I saw the movie in a theater when I was a kid, and Pat Boone's performance didn't kill the experience for me. I thought it was great. My mileage did vary.
