This has got to be the best season ever- and certainly the most exciting shpw on television by a long shot. More happens on this show in an hour than most series in a season- hell most movies. This year so far:
The Secretary of Defense gets kidnapped - and rescued.
Terrorists gain control of all nuculear power plants in the country.
A sleazy defense contractor sets off an EMP and destroys all the electronics for miles.
Air Force One gets shot down and the President severly injured. (By one of our own Stealth fighters)
Terrorists then steal the "football" with all the nuc warhead codes.
A US citizen gets tortured by government agents to reveal where the terror leader is hiding...
Terrorists then actually steal a nuc warhead.
A cowardly Vice President becomes President.
and on, and on. It's heart pounding every second.
Music is Emotion
Follow Ups:
I think it's pretty intense. Yes, it's not perfect as some have pointed out it's shortcomings. Nonetheless, I find it very entertaining, much like The Shield!

I missed Season 1, watched 2, 3 and now 4. Read an interview with the writers and they realize sometimes they get close to "self-parody" (their word). And sometimes you just have to roll your eyes. In the middle of a hostage rescue, the hostage and rescuer start arguing about their relationship problems. The new head of CTU has tried to get with Tony's ex-wife, the current acting supervisor. And now the computer analyst is out in the field shooting a machine gun. I do enjoy it, there is a huge amount of action and they are not afraid to do major things every episode, like kill off a main character. But that leads to a lot of false endings. So maybe next week they stop the hijacked nuclear bomb. We all know now that this will turn out to be yet another decoy in the terrorist master plot, which will be something other than the nuclear bomb- maybe a killer epidemic again.
I've watched all three, and am watching season 4. Watching it on DVD is the way to go, no commercials. Here are the rules for 24:
1. Background checks on CTU agents are not required.
2. Only send two or three agents to the homes/offices of potential terrorist suspects, as the terrorists will never show up there.
3. Never cover all exits to a building, the terrorist will probably walk right out the front door. You'll probably nab them inside, anyway.
4. Don't bother calling local police to set up a perimiter, it's faster for you to drive there, no matter how far away in LA it is.
5. You can hack into a computer through anything, a phone line, a power cord, anything.
6. Be careful with nuclear power plants, 'cause apparently the physical safeguards against meltdown can be bypassed over the internet.
7. Internal security at CTU itself is unnecessary, as terrorists would *never* want to attack it. Several times.
8. Use of personal cell phones at CTU is prohibited, but don't worry, everyone uses them anyway.
9. Regardless of his years of experience and proven track record, Jack Bauer has no idea what he's doing, so you should ignore any of his suggestions.
10. Computers at CTU are very, VERY high maintainance. All backups, drive swaps, network monitoring and configuration must be done by hand, as CTU has no IT department.
11. After a terrorist threat, or even attack, extra security at federal installations is not required. All business should be conducted as normal.
Since they hired Alberto Gonzales as a script writer, the good guys should always use torture to obtain information....and when it proves wrong and the person is not lying, apoligize and go about business as usual.Stab or shoot yourself or get tortured for hours on end, and within a few minutes, run around all hell to get those bad guys.
The program has gotton progressively over the top and now is really so implausible that it is silly.
The best part was Cloe getting hold of that M16, but if she shows that goofy scowl again.....
