Yes, I found it disturbing. I don't think that is reason to avoid it. It confronts the realities of our times. Not really the sort of escapism soma which many prefer today, I suppose.Kevin Spacey, of course, was excellent.
I'm not pretending to be an aesthete here. This was a movie which held my attention all the way through. And I was rooting for Lester. Does that make me a pig, or just a flawed human like those portrayed in the film?
I think you simply paid more attention to the story than to how it was done. Frankly, I do not give much damn about most movie stories, this one probably not an exception. Movie is NOT story-telling, unless it is specifically that - a story.Art is not about the subject, it is about the means.
I disagree with you on Kevin - I think he tried, but the material and the direction were so awful that he did not stand any chance. There ARE words and situation that could not be played well by ANYONE. This movie is one such situation.

Neither, I am sure. Just one bad movie - mothing to worry about much. I have watched and even enjoyed a lot of bad movies, even trash, there is nothing wrong with that. As long as we don't lose the sense of proportion.
