I was surfing the 'net the other night and googled "Our Mother's House". On the Turner Classic Movies website, there was an announcment that they would be showing the film at 3:15 (am? pm? didn't say) Tuesday.I only saw the film once or twice in the early 70s, on the "CBS Late Night at the Movies" program. I can't wait to see it again, to compare the reality with my memories. I know, I know, the film will probably suffer, but I can still recall moments and images from over thirty years ago with pleasure.
Follow Ups:
Oh no...just checked the TCM website...I got the date wrong...It is at 3:05 Tuesday...in October!Worse, I now realize that the TCM website I am looking at is TCM.uk. Do they show the same schedule as TCM in the States? Or am I again being tortured with a glimpse of this film that I am destined never to see?
"Our Mother's House" was shown on TCM (US) about a year or a year and a half ago. I saw it and, like you, was blown away by it.
I was surfing the satellite and came across TCM. I checked the program guide to see what was coming on in the next five minutes.I was unaware of its existance and its premise seemed enticing. Also, I admire director Jack Clayton. His "The Innocents" is one of the most sensitive films ever made about children and the supernatural.I've sent TCM emails, on occasion, requesting they screen it again. So far, nothing. Let's keep requesting it; they will have to program it eventually. And let's beat the drum for a DVD release!
By the way, the music soundtrack has been released on cd in a limited edition of 3000.
Thanks for the suggestion! I was starting to think I was alone in my appreciation for the film!Even though I only saw it once or twice in my early-to-mid teens, I can still remember images and sequences...Bogarde playing with the children, the second-oldest girl clearly in ecstacy...the final shot of the film....I agree, Clayton has a real gift with children and serious subjects. A shame we do not have more films from him.
