Was for years one of my prefered film. The first few seconds when the fog is dissipating and the music set in, and you see Bogarde after a long night ...
Magic.
I saw it recently and it did not grown old, helas.
It seems now very outdated.
Follow Ups:
..funny how time flies?
Another of my favourites was El Topo by Jodorowsky.
Years later I enthusiastically programmed it for some friends one evening and ended up forcing myself to watch it to the end, by myself....
Maybe, cher Jeff we are the one who are outdated to some point...
What are the point of references in our life? Our experiences or our impatience?
Our style or fashion/ flavor of the day, of the year/ of the decade?
Who knows?
Mahler is still with his adagio one of the most impressive and beautiful music around and in me.
Bonne soirée!
Sp leasure suits look outdated, but Louis XVI gowns wonderful and fresh!
As Napoleon underwear ( ref. to " Design for a Living " Lubitsch libertine champagne like film...
...the lesson is that everything changes, nothing remains.
Bonne soirée à toi!
The changes, they remains....
Here is the truth then. The films that speak of the universal human nature and its pains, joys, sorrows, sufferings and eleations never become obsolete and never look dates, because our emotions have not changed much if at all over the past 2000 years. So the father's emotions in Virgin Spring could easily be transplaned into any century you wish, and remain intact. So yes, there ARE things that forever remain.
Of course, you and me, we remains...
I am getting marching orders to put a fresh memory card into my camera and snap more pics of the garden - apparently there is that 6' tall lilly that nobody else has!So I wll be used as a prop to proove its hight, I am afraid! For scale, as they say...
Did you see the pics of my bike... speaking of you and I remaining...
Just got them!
Are you living near an atomic plant? So ask Doris....He-he.
Wonderful! Look like an orchid!!!
Marching orders...he-he that is well said. I receive mine also this morning to fix ( Me? !! ) somethimg in the garden...
No I did not.
So - did you fix it, or broke for good? That lilly turned out to be about 2m tall! The bike pic was on the Outside.
Ouch!
I fixt it.
I'm getting confused.
Why don't we, duh, change the subject?
;0)
I was sober as sober can be...
I meant that people like us still knows the value of what matter or what not.
It is 5pm in Germany, and Patrick is warmimg up for his dinner... a few glasses of Riesling and a good Havana, and he is ready to roll! You can't stop him now!
