A heavy set female German tourist who has just left her husband walks to a dilapidated desert truck stop and cafe and into the lives of the locals who at first are put off by her but gradually won over by her subtle charm. She cleans up the place and inspires everyone to be their best. Her occasional magic parlor tricks blossom into a full time floor show and business starts booming before she is discovered not to have a green card. Off beat but a wonderfully charming film. Jack Palance is the only name actor. Highly recommended.

Saw that baby when it first came out, years ago. Loved it then and just as much when I viewed it a couple of years ago. Jack and the German girl are wonderful. Great opening scene in the desert, huh? Still remember the final scene. A real gem. This was what I call an LLM. lovely little movie. warren
