Apparently, insulting the intelligence of those who have a high regard for films he can't understand is the only way Victor or his sycophants know to "bridge" differences of viewpoint!Poor Victor obviously lacks the capacity to appreciate high fantasy, but one has to wonder why he feels so passionately the need to insert derogatory opinions that also berate those who love this series of films. Is it really necessary to TROLL for responses by insulting the intelligence of others who appreciate Tolkein and/or Peter Jackson's fine films?
>>> "While they kinda got some aspects close to right, I kept wondering what happened to the old defender's mainstay weapons of boulders and burning oil and tar?" <<<
LoTR is set in a m-y-t-h-i-c-a-l time and place; why would one assume the same knowledge of defensive military strategy in a fantasy as occurs in a historical setting? Boulders perhaps, but not necessarily, especially if the ancient fortress of Helm's Deep was rarely used and never breached. So, Victor, why did you assume that these items were readily stocked?
>>> "Then out of nowhere a white guy appeared. He looked to me just as the guy who sent the animal force (pardon my cursory famiiarity with those deep characters), so I started wondering why would he suddenly switch sides, and now fight his own army... I suppose he just looked like one, but was a completely different guy... well, two nearly identically looking white haired guys is just too much for this movie goer. Overload." <<<
Gee, I'm almost afraid to ask what you'd say about a movie like Glory (let me guess: "Okay war movie, but they all look alike," ...right?). When you make statements like this, your words tend to slither out and crawl across the stereotypical floor like an Archie Bunker rant from an episode of All in The Family! ;^)
No offense (well, maybe just a little), but you obviously lack the mental capacity to suspend disbelief long enough to enjoy epic mythical adventure.

Some folks just like to tear down any film they can't understand, enjoy or relate to on it's own merits. Yes, we know that mind-set very well.
If so... I did not.....I mean if you say you had fun with it, why not, I would answer.
But now to make it an intellectual piece of work...Ô boy!

Why argue with someone who has a God complex? Let him be the legend in his own mind - he is a small bored man so he craps on everything popular preceisely to get a rise out of you and others -- if everyone stopped reponding to everything and anything he posted he would get bored and eventually slither away -- just like most bullies.
PdL and Victor decided to get into some personal business in this thread that alluded to your's truly in a very impolite off-topic manner. Since Victor is working so hard to earn his status as a prevaricator of the first order, I was hoping that by contributing a little In-Yo-Face air freshener that it might ameliorate the stench he & his brown-nosers have created with their scorched Middle Earth policy. :o)
Your mama made you watch the LOTR?
You've gone out of your way to soil yourself with your initial child-like troll and the persoanl comments following it.Are you happy? You've gotten the attention you wanted, mine especially, and yes, the stench is real because you lack the capacity for change and the messier the smear the better you like it. Rest assured though, some folks will continue to Pamper you. ;^)
23,700+ posts -- A small man who needs to feel better about hios sorry excuse for a life. You give him what sustains him.
;^)Chalk it up to the Liberal humaitarian in me if you like, but no good deed going unpunished isn't sufficient reason to give up on poor grey Victor. Nevertheless, if he'd just stop going after the Ring, he'd be much happier! His bad Hobbit makes him his own worst enemy. :o)
The hysterical immature tantrums you throw every time someone mentions his dislike of that giant pile of dreck is so wonderfully arresting, you can be assured people will keep doing this, when things get slow here, just to see another display of your poor taste and bad manners. Also interesting is your teaming up with that guy, who, upon some discussion in his Cinema 101 class, started slamming Fellini, before he could even spell his name and before he sat through a single film by the director.
A really nice pair you two make!
I sat through 81/2 and then I sat through it again as I often do when I see overrated kaka with pompous self indulgent directors wawa I ran out of ideas and the evil hollywood blah blah blah.I don't much care for the LOTR series as I simply don't find any reason for the whole thing to be more than a 2.5 hour film. It got very very very very repetitive - just like this sentence. But I see no reason to start threads telling everyone that they are brainless for liking it.
Something tells me you would not do that to my face -- I think we would see which one of us becomes the crybaby. Living your life mainly to put others down may make you feel better about yourself - common of most insecure bullies. Maybe it's time to try viagara and take the stick out of your conservative ass.
You start a thread with the moronic bashing of a much loved series of films and then insult me personally (by innuendo) in a post to PdL and have the audacity to accuse ME of immature tantrums? Give it a rest, bro. Folks can clearly see the angles you're playing and the reasons for your incivility. As for Fellini, he may have been a genius, but I can understand someone misspelling his name as a matter of boredom; I tend to fall asleep myself by the third letter. Funny, but aren't you the dude who waxes poetic about the Soviet produced version of Stanislaw Lem's Solaris (i.e., the one with the endless tunnel sequence) directed by Tvarsky ...or was it Tarkovsky?
> > > "A really nice pair you two make!" < < <
We may agree on certain films, but given the poker analogy it looks to me like we both have inside straights this hand, not to mention being straight shooters! You and patrick, on or rather IN the other hand, NOW there's a pair! Both deuces of course, which is as about low as you can get even with one in the hole unless you consider yourselves wildcards, but I guess there's no shame in playing the hand you're dealt! ;^)
