  Do you really think those who weren't impressed with the overblown Lord of the Rings are going to cream themselves as you will over some schlocky CGI-crapfest like King Kong ?     I think you have already made up your mind. If anything is digital then it is bad no matter what. Even if digital composite shots are a hunded times better than traditional optical ones they are digital and that makes them bad and it makes any movie that uses them bad as well.
