In Reply to: So, who around now would make the best Bond? Remember, posted by tinear on June 29, 2005 at 20:39:24:
Does he *have* to be British?Viggo Mortensen would be a good choice. He's got a passable British accent, my wife likes his looks, he's a manly man, and a pretty good actor.
Filling the British requirement, probably Clive Owen. Maybe a bit on the old side, but Bond should be showing his age by now, anyways.

Well, he does not have to be England, as long as he from the British isles (United Kingdom). Connery is from Scotland, Pierce Brosnan from Ireland, Timothy Dalton from Wales, and Lazenby from Australia. Only Roger Moore was British. I think the folks across the pond regard Bond as their property. Mortensen would be out. From what I read, it is not a fait accompli that Brosnan will not return. I suspect they will meet his demands, and he will be back for another film or two.Clive Owen has the look and darker personality, but I am not sure he would wear well for more than one or two films. Jude Law has been mentioned. He has the lighter side of Bond, more of a Moore type, but not sure about the physical presence. Crowe is a little too gritty for me. Crowe is a little like a bull in a china shop. Not enough grace. Too rough around the edges.
was my choice as well. Also, he has a hairpiece, just like the original!
Re: hairpiece.
Well . . .the original didn't have one originally, though even in Dr. No it was obvious one would soon be required.Speaking of Sean, man oh man, the fight he is in re: renovations in his NYC duplex. The tales about his behaviour would curl your hair. Of course, they are nothing new . . . we've been hearing the same kinds of reports about him for over 10 years now.
