I'm fed up with stupid '70's 'conspiracy' films like this one with Gene Hackman & (god help us) Candice Bergman and the other one was with Warren Beaty which could've been the same film so embarassingly naive & it doesn't surprise me that we've ended up where we've ended up if this is what's been netted from some dumb revolution that never happened back in '68.
Anyway, what happened?
(off to read Ginsberg's 'Howl')
Follow Ups:
Mickey Rooney and Eddie Albert (where's Ernie Borgnine?) should tell you to make sure to watch in a room with opened windows.
Beatty's performance in PV was superb, as was the story. I guess you don't care for The Manchurian Candidate, either?
The film, after all, isn't a political essay charging Sirhan Sirhan with conspiring with American pols to assassinate the Pres. It's fiction, based on some truth, and, as such, gripping.
Sorry you weren't thrilled. Many consider it a classic, a view I share. Three Days of the Condor is a similarly excellent political thriller which has also aged very well.
...I do really like those films.
Maybe I'm just, unfortunately, more cynical these days.
I also liked The China Syndrome, despite it's naivity.
