    Carl had gotten the job at the lawnmower shop.

    Everytime I change my lawnmower's blades (yesterday) I am reminded of it.

      I have seen the original short film also ("Some Folks Call it a Sling Blade"), which was great. The nice thing is that the full length feature was almost identical and just continued Karl's journey after leaving the hospital. No Hollywood film massacre here.
