Wonderful weekend matinee experience. I'm a pushover for *good* romantic comedy and this one delivers, albeit with rather more F-words that I found strictly fuckin' necessary...Some of the minor roles are better than the majors. When grandma starts to dilate on Eleanor Roosevelt... And there's an athlete you'll love to hate.
And the women are intelligent!
Great fun.
Follow Ups:
I would call this a slightly raunchy comedy that turns into a romantic comedy.Vince Vaughn ruled this flick which imo....is a must see and the funiest comedy in years.
a
...and Will Ferrell's short part was priceless.
"I'm livin' the dream!" That was a classic!
...I fall in love with Rachel McAdams in every movie I see her in.
Gloria was my favorite character, the scene with her fingers in her ears, her mouth all blown up as she's holding her breath and stomping her feet was perfect as was her response to Vince's "Lets take it to the next level" proposition. Much better than it had to be to draw in a sizable summer audience. And yes, the secondary roles were above good, Todd, Chistopher Walken's WAYY right wing Secretary of the Treasury, Grandma, Chaz, Jane Seymour as the Secretary's wife, all were very interesting."MOM, BRING US SOME FUCKIN MEATLOAF!!!".
Amid all the mayhem a nice little romantic comedy. Enough romance to keep the wife from owning me for the next couple of months. Translate that as I won't have to take her to some real shite movies as penance.
