I seriously doubt Robert Shaw was the "Best of the Bunch" if you were on the set with him. He was an alcoholic and drunk most of the time on the set which wrecked a lot of filming sessions. If you watch closely, you can tell which clips where Shaw was drunk during the scene where he tells the story about being on the USS Indianapolis in WWII.
